The theater was built by Jack Swan in the mid-1800s as lodging for sailors, but was later converted to a theater.
Along with the Custom House and theater, the park also houses the Cooper-Molera Adobe Complex, Larkin House, the Old Whaling Station, and several other historic buildings. Larkin House is a historic home built by an American merchant who also happened to be the first and only United States Consul to Mexican-controlled Alta California. The Old Whaling Station was originally built as a home and was later used as a headquarters when the Whaling Station was needed. Finally, the Cooper-Molera Adobe Complex is also a historic home which was built in the 1800s.

A fine example of historic church is the Cathedral of San Carlos Borromeo. As both the oldest stone building and oldest still-running parish in the state, the building has much to offer history buffs. Built in 1794 as part of a mission, the structure was founded by Father Junipero Serra. Both its illustrious history and its gorgeous structure will please guests.
